My first DNF today
I am an avid reader/audio book listener and have a wide range of genres but my favorite has always been fantasy. Recently I’ve gotten into romantasy because who doesn’t want a little spice right?
I have been FORCING myself to try and finish A Touch Of Gold and Madness but I just couldn’t do it. The FMC is so MEAN to everyone. I understand she has trauma and life has changed a lot but the past 49 chapters have been rough. All she talks about is her dead ex boyfriend and how much she wants the MMC to the point of them messing around a bit for her to pull back and immediately start complaining about her dead ex again. She is extremely volatile in the way she reacts to ANYTHING that she perceives as an insult and not to mention has hit and attempted to hit the MMC in a fit of rage.
I really wanted to like this story and I think it could be good but my god the FMC is absolutely insufferable. I wanted a badass FMC that could hold their own and is their own person, not someone who lashes out with anger at every single thing. The way she treats some of these characters legitimately makes me mad.
Has anyone else read this that may have some insight? Am I judging too hard? When I think she’s starting to get a little bit better she immediately goes back to being just absolutely mean.
