How to tame my budgies
I’ve gotten 2 budgies since January of 2026 and unexpectedly given a 3rd in March 2026. I’ve been trying to follow tips how to tame them and bond, but nothing seems to work. They trust me enough they’ll do any kind of activity in front of me, even eat (only treats) from my hand. But they always run away when I try using my hand or stick for them to step up, even with treat in sight.
for example, I have a treat. They come running up to the cage door as I open it and try to reach the treat from their perch. I’d keep it out of reach next to one of them and have a path from either on my finger or stick to get the treat. suddenly they’re not interested. I’ve seen some people say they must be tamed separately, but the result it the same.
