Already finished my LVP install… now stuck with a flush stair nose problem

I’ve finished installing the LVP everywhere except for the stairs.

One dumb mistake I made was not starting from the stair side with the flush stair nose. Instead, I installed the floor in the opposite direction, and now I’ve backed myself into a pretty awkward situation.

At this point, the only solution I can think of is:

  • cut back the last plank by the width of the stair nose,
  • glue the flush stair nose directly to the subfloor with Liquid Nails,
  • then fill any small remaining gap between the plank and stair nose with either wood putty or caulk.

Does this sound like the most realistic approach, or is there a better way to handle this?
