Advice on reenlisting
Need some advice…
I’m a Sgt with about a year left on my contract, and my goal is to become a pilot. I’m trying to decide what the best path is.
I can get out, finish my degree through PLC (I already have my associate’s and have talked to an OSO), and try to get an aviation contract. The downside is giving up an $80k reenlistment bonus, more time in service, and other benefits.
Or I can stay in, submit a MECEP package, become an officer, and later use my GI Bill to get my civilian pilot licenses.
I’ve also heard that life as a Marine pilot can be tough with long hours and not seeing your family much, so I’m not sure what the right choice is.
Any advice or personal experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
