The shittification of Behance - final boss form
Look, I’ve seen a lot of shitty stuff on Behance over the years. Hell, I’ve been actively watching it die a slow death ever since Adobe got its hands on it.
Lots and lots and lots of spam, sure, but I honestly never expected people to message me asking if they could do a little identity theft “borrowing” to help with their job hunt using my name. (To be fair, I would’ve loved to see how a guy using my identity - F32 - would get through the hiring process. Imagine the first video call: “Surprise, motherf*cker! I had a gender swap two days ago.”)
I realize now that part of my personal “internet is dead” feeling comes from the extreme enshittification of this platform. A few years ago, it was such a cool place to spend time on, discover great art, land interesting jobs, and find your next favorite artist.
Now it’s either spam or borderline illegal shit like this, and it’s honestly making me lose any hope in the future of art platforms - and, at times, the internet in general.
So, if anyone knows any other cool and safe place to post art to and follow other artists, feel free to throw it my way.
PS: if you happen to get a message like this, REPORT THEIR ASS ASAP.
