If you ever experience a “VPN/Proxy detected” error while streaming, try using the browser extension. It turns out that it detects the error and can offer to reconnect you to a server that works. Worked for me with FIFA on Youtube. What you do is:

1. Pick a country server where the video is available.
2. Navigate to the Youtube channel you want to watch.
3. You’ll receive the Youtube VPN/proxy detected error, along with a NordVPN extension notification suggesting that you switch servers.
4. Switch servers and reload.
5. Voilia!

 

One thing I like is that the extension only affects the browser. I don’t always want my whole device connected to a VPN just to watch something on Youtube.

Also, don’t run the desktop app and the browser extension at the same time unless you know what you’re doing. For me it was cleaner to just use the extension.

It’s not perfect. Some stuff can still be blocked because of your Google account, Youtube TV location rules, etc but for normal Youtube in a browser, it worked really well.
