I built a free ambient sound mixer for sleep and focus – would love your feedback
I've spent the past few months building Scenescaper, a free web app for layering ambient sounds, live radio and spoken word into your own personal sound environment.
The idea came from my own frustration — I can't sleep without background noise, but I couldn't find anything that let me mix different sources the way I wanted. Spotify is too music-focused, white noise apps are too basic, and nothing let me combine, say, rain sounds with a low-volume radio station and a sleep timer.
So I built it myself.
What you can do:
- Mix ambient sounds (rain, fire, café, forest, 30+ options) with live radio from anywhere in the world
- Add spoken word — speeches, audiobooks, or podcast streaming
- Binaural beats and generated noise (white, brown, pink)
- Sleep timer with a 90-second fade
- Pomodoro timer built in
- Save and share your scenes publicly
- Browse scenes other people have made
It's completely free, no app download needed — just open it in a browser.
Would genuinely love to hear if anything is broken, confusing, or if there's something obvious I'm missing. Happy to answer any questions.
