Update: iPhone keyboard suggestions are less annoying after a few tweaks (still not perfect)

Quick follow up to my iOS keyboard saga from a couple weeks ago.

Short version: I was getting fed up with autocorrect and suggestions while texting and when I jot down crochet pattern notes at the library. I type a lot of shorthand like "sc", "inc", "tog", and iOS kept wanting to delete letters or jump the cursor to "fix" things.

What I tried:

- Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary

- Turned off Predictive for one day

- Kept Auto-Correction on, but turned off "Show Predictions Inline" (I had never noticed that setting before)

Results after about 10 days:

- Resetting the dictionary helped more than I expected. It stopped aggressively changing my crochet abbreviations into normal words.

- With inline predictions off I make fewer accidental taps on the suggestion bar. The suggestions are still there, but they are not constantly trying to complete the word in the text.

- Turning Predictive off briefly and then back on seemed to help the keyboard relearn my typing patterns. Could be placebo, but it genuinely feels better.

It is still not as forgiving as some Android keyboards, but it went from a daily annoyance to mostly fine.

Anyone found other iOS settings that actually change keyboard behavior rather than just appearance? Or a better way to keep certain abbreviations from being auto fixed without turning everything off?
