so before I discuss the car, I think it is important to discuss the railroad it was built for. the Rapa Iti Railroad(RIR) is the name of my fictional 8.7 mile 18” gauge railroad operating on the semi fictional island nation of Rapa Iti. the line runs from the Dock to a small(really small) sawmill and logging operation, as well as serving both a small coffee and a Small sugar plantation, all in the modern day.The RIR mainly hauls imported logs from the dock to the sawmill inbound, along with fuel in 55 gallon barrels. outbound loads consist of  boxcars loaded with coffee, Sugar, flatcars of lumber, as well as various agricultural goods from the 3 farms on the island. It was founded in 1924 to primarily serve the sawmill, and is still operational in the modern day(the era I plan to model it in)

Anyways, this hopper is 14’ long, 6’ wide, and 10’ off the railhead(10’6” with the greedy boards on the ends). Most importantly, the hopper door works!, allowing me to carry live loads(ballast mainly) and dump them. It uses a hing made from styrene, with micro rare earth magnets to hold it shut. It rolls pretty well, and a Kato 11-109 can just pull it when loaded. It is made out of styrene I beam, 4 pieces of angle, and uses Carrol Creek Design trucks and brake wheels, plus some coupler pockets for link and pin couplers. It still needs additional paint and lettering, so it’s still a workin progress. What do you all think?
