Prescribed Yaz for hairfall. Not sure what to do..
I 21F, have been having intense hair loss since I was 14. My hair fall was so severe that I had my scalp showing and I would cry myself to sleep daily.
My periods are pretty regular and I have no hirsutism. I am also not overweight. Last year, I was diagnosed with PCOS and my high androgens explain most of my hair shedding.
My derm prescribed me 100 mg Spironolactone and I have been taking it since September. I have no side effects with it and initially, it seemed to be promising but my hair fall hadn’t ever stopped.
Since a month, my hair has been falling a lot. My derm referred an endocrinologist to me and he said I should take Yaz or Diane 95. He wrote Yaz in the prescription.
Normally, I would take anything the doctors give me but theres a really strong stigma around contraceptive pills and I really need to know other peoples experiences around it.
I honestly probably dont have any option other than to just take the pill. But, I heard it makes you gain weight and I can’t be bald AND feel bad about my body. Weight gain/loss is a change you need to be ready to accept and I’m really stressing out.
