So according to OSHA, it says you are never allowed to carry fuel on your person while an engine is running. I understand the safety issues of carrying fuel during work but not being able to do so makes for a logistical nightmare. And I need tips for what to do.particularly for solo trail work.

So say a full tank on a brush cutter lasts .5 miles but 5miles need to be cut. If I bring to tank to the trail head and drop it and run until empty after .5miles then walk back and stage it where I left off and repeat that 10ish times, then I would have to walk a total of 15miles for a 5mile straight trail.

How do yall deal with this? I frequently find myself bungeeing the tank to my harness but I know that I cant let that become a habit especially for new crew members as it’s bad practice and could come back to bite me if something bad were to happen.

Is the gas staging dilemma just a fact of trail work?
