YLS Alumni - PLEASE HELP!

hello!
I’m attending this years Young Leaders Summit and I was wondering about how serious they take the zooms.

cause unfortunately I’m booked for work tomorrow and I’m trying to see if I’ll be able to have the orientation zoom just in the background running or if I have to be glued to my screen for the entire two hour session…

if you’re an alumni please let me know!
thank you!!

hello!

I apologize if this post is formatted weird or is written terribly, as I am not usually the writer of Reddit posts (usually just the reader tbh).

however, I recently got into the Pioneer Research Institute through Questbridge as a college prep scholar and I’m really unsure of if I wanna do it.

The program seems cool, but I already have 4 set summer programs:

Boys State (1 week)

Governors School (7am to 10pm; 2 weeks)

And another leadership / politics program (7am to 10pm; Entire month of July)

And I listed this in my availability part of my application, which caused me to get an email from my QB programs specialist asking if I really wanted to make the time commitment due to all the restraints.

Honestly I’m really writing this post to see if the program is worth it enough to drop Boys State and/or Gov School for (can’t drop my July one) or if I’m being too selfish for declining the opportunity that I got to have.

I wasn’t even going to apply to Pioneer on the QB programs section but I ended up just doing it. And now I don’t know if I really wanna stretch my time doing this or if I should just let the opportunity go. I thought if I did pioneer then I could read some really niche or cool articles that I could put on my “materials” supplementals for my college apps as well as list it because according to them, “they’re the only accredited research program held in high regard by top colleges”.

I feel like if I don’t do this then I might not have an increased shot at big colleges, plus I’m turning it down to really only go to local, state-wide programs in return so idk.

If you have any advice or think of what I should do, please let me know!!!
