So I don’t know if anyone else has come up with this theory but whatever. I have a theory that Shizuku Tsukishima is the writer of the ghibili universe. Hear me out, whisper of the heart is one of my fav animated films ever and it’s held in such a special place in my heart and the reason I believe this I because:

1. It’s one of the only ghibili films that take place in the modern real world. No magical stuff happens and it takes place during the year it came out making it one of the most realistic films made by the studio.
2. Shizuku is obviously an aspiring writer, and if you understand Shizuku as a character, she has a very creative and abstract mind which perfectly fits with what Ghibili stories are as a whole
3. she canonically wrote the cat returns (my childhood fav). If she canonically wrote this story, then what’s holding the idea of her writing the other stories back?
4. I can totally see her writing howls moving castle (Just cause, if you get it, you get it.)

So yeah, let me know what y’all think. I just thought it was a cutesy little head canon that helps me believe that she did end up following her dreams and became a famous writer as an adult with Seiji by her side (While being a famous violin maker ofc)
