It really seems like Maroon 5 selling out with “Moves Like Jagger” and shifting their core audience toward soccer moms who listen to Pop/HAC/AC radio kept them relevant throughout the 2010s and prevented them from fading out like most rock bands from the 2000s did, even though each album and hit song kept getting worse.

But they obviously couldn’t survive the 2020s music landscape using that same method, especially now that radio is one of the last factors influencing what’s popular.
