I collected seeds from my in-laws’ garden, and I expected them to look like the parent plant, which is a beautiful scarlet red. One of them does look similar, but the others are much bigger, with huge blooms and pretty wavy petals.

Does anyone know what this might be? And more importantly, why did this happen? I’m new to growing dahlias from seed and would love to understand how they can turn out so different from the parent plant.
