A while ago I was trying to find a specific pair of pants I saw online. I had screenshots, I tried normal search, reverse image search, shopping search — nothing really worked. The results were either completely off, too generic, or missed the actual style/details I was looking for.
That frustration turned into a project I’m still building: SEWN.
It’s an early beta visual fashion search tool. The idea is simple: you can search for fashion pieces from screenshots, outfit photos, product images, or text descriptions/vibes.
You can try things like:
- upload a screenshot from Pinterest / Instagram / TikTok
- upload an outfit photo and select one specific item
- search by text like “black leather jacket” or “Miu Miu vibe but cleaner”
- save items to a Wishlist and revisit previous searches
It’s not a marketplace. SEWN searches external product sources, so some links, images, prices, or availability can be outdated or broken. Right now I’m mainly trying to improve search quality and understand where the product fails.
I’d really appreciate honest feedback on:
- whether the photo search understands the item/vibe
- whether the results feel relevant
- whether the mobile flow is clear
- where it breaks or feels confusing
- what search you tried that gave bad results
You can try it here: https://sewn.network
Blunt feedback is very welcome. I’m still actively building it, and the project will keep improving based on real searches and feedback.
