I'm coming to the end of a three-year postdoc and will be starting a second postdoc in a couple of months. For various reasons, things are tense with my current advisor, and I'm considering not putting them down on as a reference on TT applications in the Fall. How bad would this look to a hiring committee? I'm planning on using my dissertation advisor and a couple of collaborators I've published with who I think would write good letters.
