Why is Hot Topic considered fast fashion? /genq

I see a lot of people call Hot Topic fast fashion when, in my experience of shopping there, it’s been pretty much the opposite in terms of quality. None of the clothing items I’ve bought from there have fallen apart after time, and have actually held up pretty nicely (the only exception being some star hair clips I got that had a few of them chip, but that’s pretty much it. And it wasn’t the full pack, so it wasn’t a total waste)

I’m guessing maybe I just got lucky and others haven’t had as good of luck? My Hot Topic is still surprisingly more scene compared to others I’ve seen. Mine still has band shirts, good cuff/studded bracelets, striped leggings/gloves, etc. I once found a cool pair of blue fishnet gloves there I thought fit it too

Maybe it’s also that I’m not immediately throwing out said clothing items after use because I just never had a reason to. Because, well, like I said, quality’s been great.

So with that being said, I’m genuinely curious, how is Hot Topic fast fashion? Is it a lot different elsewhere than my experiences going there? I admit I feel bad shopping there if it is actually fast fashion, considering Scene’s values and all, but my experience has been so different that I just don’t really know what to think.
