Weird shoulder experiences
Hello!
I lurked around this sub for years now, reading many of your posts and feeling almost normal with all my weird pains and aches.
I have a diagnosis of “ligament hypermobility (laxity)” but I have a good enough score on the beighton scale and some comorbidities like dysautonomia and POTS. I have been doing PT for 5 month now with someone who does know only the basics about hypermobility, and I feel my muscles more toned and a general sense of increased stability in my legs.
HOWEVER pains and weird stuff coming from nowhere are still happening and one in particular was so sudden and weird that I wanted to share with you guys.
Last night I was almost falling asleep. I tossed and turned from side to side ( i am a side sleeper) like I usually do, until on of the sides feels so comfy that my brain says “ohh, that’s the spot!”, and turns the light off.
However, when I turned to the left so my right shoulder was up, I felt that the right shoulder was in a weird position, so I started moving it a bit to see if I can get comfy again.
I do not know what I did because the joint with the scapula suddenly moved in a fast way with a muffed noise and a deep pain came. The pain was sharp at the beginning then a little more diffuse but still big. About half an hour I tried to soothe the shoulder by massaging it and after that I fell asleep with o contorted face.
This morning I woke up with aching muscles around the shoulder joint and it still hurts after some light PT.
My question is what happened? Did you experienced something close to this in bed, doing nothing except trying to get comfortable to fall asleep? Is it a sort of subluxation?
I am not looking for a diagnosis, I just need to rationalize a bit what had happend, to have some sense of what I experienced. My brain gets less depressed that way😄
