From Henry to rich to wealth

I’ve been thinking about the transition from being a HENRY to actually becoming rich, and then eventually wealthy.

People often talk about hitting a certain net worth, but I wonder whether the first signs are actually behavioural rather than financial.

For me, one of the biggest changes was this: I stopped cooking and food shopping for myself and don’t drive cars anymore either. My time became more valuable than the savings from doing it all myself, so I started paying for convenience.

It made me realise that wealth isn’t just about how much you earn or invest it’s also about how you value your time.

What were the first signs for you that you were moving from:

  • HENRY → Rich
  • Rich → Wealthy

Was it outsourcing chores, flying business class, no longer checking prices in the supermarket, having investment income exceed your salary, or something completely different?

I’m curious to hear what changes happened in your life before your bank balance made it obvious.

Looking for an accountant experienced with contractors, VAT and digital income

Looking for an accountant experienced with contractors, pensions, VAT and digital income

I am now looking to build additional passive or semi-passive income streams through social media content and paid training courses. My plan is to set up a separate limited company for this new business activity.

The company’s income would mainly come from course sales, YouTube/social-media-related income, sponsorships and similar digital products. I do not expect to take a salary from the new company; I would only take dividends when appropriate and leave some profit in the business for growth.

I am looking for recommendations for an accountant or accountancy package that can properly support:

  • A new limited company alongside my existing contracting income
  • Corporation tax, VAT registration and VAT returns
  • Dividend planning
  • Digital product, training-course and social media income
  • Business expenses and bookkeeping software
  • tax-planning considerations, without crossing into financial advice

Ideally, I would like an accountant who understands UK contractors and online training/content businesses, rather than a basic low-cost service that only files annual accounts.

Has anyone used an accountant or package they would genuinely recommend?

Why am I seeing more outside IR35 recently ?

Has there been any regs or law changes since April?

Clients have gained confidence?

Has anyone else noticed an increase in outside IR35 contracts recently? Has there been a change in regulations or tax law since April 2026 that is encouraging businesses to offer more outside IR35 roles? Is this linked to the higher company size thresholds, the new umbrella company rules, or are organisations simply becoming more comfortable making genuine outside IR35 determinations after several years of operating the off-payroll rules? Or is it mainly a result of market pressures, with employers needing to attract experienced contractors in specialist areas?
