Research grant after MSCA fellowship: risk of losing unemployment benefits (DIS-COLL)?
Hi everyone,
I am a foreign researcher (French) and I am about to finish my research fellowship contract (assegno di ricerca, funded by a Marie Curie fellowship) on May 31st 2026. The contract started in June 2024 and my salary was around 4,300€ net per month.
My supervisor is proposing me to continue with a 2-month research grant (borsa di ricerca, from June 1st to July 31st 2026, around 2,000€ net per month).
I have one question: I understand that my current contract (assegno di ricerca) entitles me to unemployment benefits (DIS-COLL). If I accept this 2-month research grant, could it jeopardize my right to unemployment benefits? (I'm not very familiar with the Italian system... could the INPS simply look at my last contract, see these two months, and consider me ineligible?)
