A New Beginning is an alt-history mod aiming at increasing variety by essentially balkanizing the entire world. While still in alpha, this mod eventually aims at creating new mission trees for the released tags all the while keeping all vanilla mechanics.

This is done with the following rules :

  1. No subject nation at the start of the game (with the possible exception of Japanese subjects). All existing subject nations are independent
  2. Releasing as many tags as possible

The goal is to create a world where conquest and unification of areas is possible with more tags than it is in vanilla. I created this mod as I found that other alt-history mods also included big empires and I wanted to see what the game would be like if some kind of "reset" happened, with no big empires/nations existing.

Currently the "releasing" of tags has only been done in the western and eastern europe superregions, but further versions will include the entire world.

This is not just the first version of my mod, it's also the very first mod I've ever created. I'm looking for feedback for bugs (like tags I might've missed) as well as help for mission trees and ideas for nations. Right now :

  1. The mission trees of many nations, such as Aragon and Byzantium, are clearly not adapted to the new political reality of the mod.
  2. Nations that are flavourless in the base game should gain ideas and missions (i.e: giving Iceland colonizing missions).
  3. The balance of some areas might need to be tested. For example the HRE now has a very weak emperor, but the increased number of princes makes imperial authority grow much faster.

I am also open to collaborate with people and/or putting the mod on github it's helpful for development.
