Jane (a pseudonym) says she first messaged Burke in summer 2022. Eventually, they were texting and calling each other regularly.

I was in high school,” she recalls. Unbeknownst to Jane, Burke allegedly began his sexual relationship with Rivas Hernandez not long after. “I feel like she got the worst version of him. A different version,” Jane says. “It’s just really shocking and saddening.”
