Gravel riding and asthma?
Hi everyone. Sorry if this isn't the best subreddit for this, but I wanted to make a post to see if anyone else had experienced something similar and/or had advice. I'm a guy in my late 20s and one of my favorite life-long hobbies is cycling. I'm relatively new to gravel cycling, but I've become a big fan. Last summer I did a lot of solo rides and one race without any issues and I had started to pick up the pace this year to train for a 100+ mile gravel race going on in my area this fall.
Unfortunately also this year I've suddenly started having health issues which seem to be triggered by certain environmental factors. I've been talking to a doctor and we're trying to get things all figured out but more and more signs are pointing to adult-onset asthma. I've never had asthma before and I'm frankly a bit devastated that it might put an end to cycling for me and even to some other regular outdoor activities I enjoy.
Are there any riders here with asthma or adult onset asthma, and how have you dealt with it? I am also wondering about dealing with the mental aspect of it as I've suddenly become anxious about riding/being solo in an isolated area. Thanks.
