Symantec SGS 320 not booting
Hello everyone!
I hope someone here has experience with this type of appliance. I got it about a week ago used, in theory in working condition. I read the manual and its supposed to have a web interface for configuration but plugging it didnt give out any addresses, that might have been a previous configuration of course.
The problem is: it seems like its stuck in a boot loop. The LED's upfront always flash in the same pattern, but as far as Im concerned its actually not an error code, the manual doesnt say anything about it either. Im assuming its just part of the boot process, but once everything should start working it just repeats the flashing.
-First only the power LED is on
-Error LED turns on
-Error and <-> (but in vertical) LED turn on and off 4 times
-Every LED turns on
-Error and <-> again blink 4 times
-Error LED turns off
-Everything except power turns off
-Repeat
I was only able to get a Serial null modem cable yesterday since even if I find any on the market they are expensive as hell where I am at. I followed the manual saying to turn the 3rd dipswitch on, then after pressing power pressing reset too.
This actually brought in the Serial config menu where I pressed 6 for Restore to Defaults, after which it said Reset OK, resetting... and it got stuck there. Waited about 15 minutes before pulling the plug, now I cant even get to this menu, the leds behave the in the same way.
I opened it up and other than some capacitors being crooked(?) I saw no leaks or exploded ones, nor any other damage.
Did anyone experience this before? Im thinking its hardware faulty, already tried contacing the seller but no reply.
Thank you for your time!
