NPD: One more Lamy 2000

Got myself one more Lamy 2000 (Makrolon EF) first one from the bottom row! I like the EF nib on my stainless steel one a lot and saw a good deal from a local seller for the Makrolon version in mint condition. I will stop buying the L2k pens for a while!

New Nib Day – Lamy Al-Star Aubergine and the Z57 gold nib

I've been wanting to do this since I purchased the Lamy Al-Star Aubergine, I love the special colours, the EF steel nib was not bad, but it just lacks character and is rather mundane to write with. The pen ended up sitting on my desk more than my other pens.

I read some negative comments on Lamy's non-2000 gold libs, mainly it's too toothy/scratchy. Having written with it in the last couple days, it does have more feedback than the steel one, but for my particular writing, it works perfectly well. The nib writes slightly broader than the steel EF nib, but with more line variation, and definitely more bouncy and fun to work with. I inked this with the Sailor Kiwa-guro.

I'm going to use this pen a lot more now!

Any love for the Platinum Curidas here?

When I first saw a picture of the Platinum Curidas I thought it was an ugly piece of plastic. However, I saw it in real life during a work trip in Tokyo and decided to get one (yens are very cheap at the moment.) It actually writes super well on both good and bad paper, very reliable, always ready to write, very light, and the design started to grow on me, now I think it's not the prettiest fountain pen on earth in the classical sense, but it has its own character. I'm using this primarily in my office now, and my Pilot Vanishing Point is sitting in my pen case in the drawer. Any fan here?

I always like the Jetstream refills but dislike their plastic multi pens, so when I saw the Jetstream metal, I immediately ordered it.

I knew before ordering that only the pen’s grip is metal, rest is plastic. I don’t really mind the material choice, it’s anyway lighter this way with some good downward weight which is good for a ballpoint pen, but overalls I feel that the quality of the plastic part is a bit underwhelming, for example the moulding line is very clearly visible in my second photo.

I like the design overall, more tactile looking than the regular plastic one. I will keep it on my desk for some daily scribbling.

Lamy 2000 F was my first expensive pen, I chose F over EF to be safe at the time. Since then, I've been using more and more Japanese pens with F nibs, and want to get the EF nib for the Lamy 2000.

Instead of buying the nib only, I decided to just get the Stainless Steel EF (I've been saving a bit of fund for another passion pen), I thought why not.

Very happy about this, and the EF nib behaves quite differently to F. Both inked with Pilot Blue Black, the difference in line thickness is subtle but EF is much more tactile and toothy, which makes it completely different animal. Really enjoying the contrast of both pens.

Saw this pen from a great deal for USD 5 including the ink and converter including shipping, I thought why not. It writes pretty well! It’s not as smooth as my Japanese nibs but for this price I am genuinely happy, the value proposition is crazy!
