I decided to draw my own art for my story. Here's how it turned out!
The first three illustrations for ANANKE: The Solis Tale were made by my girlfriend, who's an amazing artist. She's been busy lately, so I decided to try making my own cover in the meantime. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and I plan to keep making my own illustrations whenever I can. Here's the cover and a 4-panel ad I made.
The monster behind Kara is her Duvel, and the golden shards are part of what happens to her. I'd love to hear what you think of both. Does the cover tell you what kind of story this is?
And since today is update day: in the chapter coming out at 7 PM ET, I'll be asking readers which character they'd like to see as my next portrait. If you have a favorite from the story, or you're curious about who might show up, come and say hi!
About the story:
Kara Solis is thirteen when her city falls. She inherits a Duvel, a monster that lives inside her and turns her into something nearly indestructible, built to kill. Every time she uses it, she loses a memory. She refuses to become a killing machine, so she hides the Duvel inside a body that was never meant to hold it. But the war keeps coming, and the monster is getting harder to keep quiet.
What to expect:
Power isn't strength: fights are won by thinking, not just overpowering
Enemies with their own reasons and their own losses
A serious, grounded war drama with an ensemble cast
Between chapters, classified briefings appear and readers vote on what gets declassified next
If you like Attack on Titan, 86, Fullmetal Alchemist, or Valkyria Chronicles, it might be your thing.
Free on Royal Road, updates every Saturday at 7 PM ET. Book I of a planned five-book saga.
