I honestly really enjoyed studying and preparing for this test. I even enjoyed taking it a bit between all the stress. Im just glad I can move on to Core 2. Its pretty cool looking back on how much I learned studying for this. Now all those flash cards can go rot in my drawer.

A+ Core 1 Passed ✅

Studied for a month. I did Dion’s course on Udemy and Messer’s on YouTube (took me 2 weeks to go through them), then I bought the 6 practice exams from Dion. I’d take an exam, see which objective was my weakest, re-study that objective using ChatGPT and YouTube videos, and try again. On my first practice exam I scored 60%, and on the 6th I scored 85%.

The exam was easier than I thought, but I was totally lost on the PBQs.

I’m currently studying for Core 2 and Network+ simultaneously (I have a college class that’s teaching me everything I need for Network+) hoping to get those out of the way by December.

Currently working in retail management, but desperately looking to jump into IT (help desk, network engineering, or cybersecurity).

Google employees asked for CompTIA training, and that says a lot

Here’s what caught my attention, the demand came from Google employees themselves.

Some wanted stronger cybersecurity skills. Others wanted a clearer path into new roles. Google responded with voluntary CompTIA training, including Security+.

That says a lot. Even inside Google, people still value a clear way to learn and grow.

You can create that structure yourself: learn the topics through CoursesDigest, review them with GuidesDigest, practice hands-on skills and PBQs on LabsDigest, and test your knowledge with independent practice exams from ExamsDigest.

A certification won’t replace experience—but it can give your learning direction.

Which CompTIA certification are you working toward?

CompTIA has some major certification updates coming in 2026

Here are the important dates if you are studying for a CompTIA exam:

  • CySA+ V4 (CS0-004) — released June 23, 2026
  • DataSys+ V2 (DS0-002) — preview September 15, course release October 13
  • Security+ V8 (SY0-801) — preview October 20, course release November 17
  • SecOT+ V1 (SOT-001) — preview November 3, course release December 1

The biggest one for many candidates will probably be Security+ SY0-801, while SecOT+ is a completely new certification focused on securing operational technology, industrial systems, manufacturing, utilities, and critical infrastructure.

If you are currently preparing for Security+, DataSys+, or CySA+, it's worth checking which exam version your study materials cover.

Anyone planning to take SY0-801 or the new SecOT+?

Passed my Network + today!

Passed Network+ and A+, only need Sec+ to complete the trifecta! Also have my CCP from AWS, I’m wondering how tough the Sec+ was in comparison to the network?

OpenpassAI is honestly a wild platform for exam prep

⚠️ This post is sponsored by https://examsdigest.com/

We've been exploring and promoting OpenpassAI recently, and I have to say — this platform is wild.

https://openpassai.com/

It brings AI-powered certification preparation into one place, with practice questions, explanations, and study support designed to help learners prepare more effectively. What I like most is how it feels practical instead of overwhelming. You can focus on the topics you need, review mistakes, and build confidence step by step.

For anyone preparing for IT, cloud, cybersecurity, Salesforce, or other certification exams, OpenpassAI looks like a strong tool to check out.

Has anyone else tried OpenpassAI yet? Id be interested to hear your thoughts.

What's the hardest topic in A+ that nobody warns you about?

When I started A+, I assumed troubleshooting hardware would be the difficult part.

Instead I found printer troubleshooting and networking questions far more annoying.

Everyone talks about CPUs and RAM.

Nobody talks about how much time they spend trying to remember random printer issues.

For those who've taken A+:

What topic ended up being much harder than you expected?
