I got my MSc. in Economics... Now what?

Hi all,
I’m 26, based in Seattle, and finished my MSc in Economics from a university in Spain last year (U.S. state school undergrad --born and raised here). My background is mostly in applied economics, panel data, research, and policy-related work (so a lot of experience in Python, R, Stata, etc). I haven't had any private-sector related internships because I was going down the academic route for a while, now I am looking to pivot. I have RA experience, leadership, and good grades (magna cum laude, etc).

I’ve been applying for analyst/research/consulting/utility-type roles for months now and honestly feel stuck. A lot of “entry level” jobs want years of experience, and a lot of the openings I’m actually interested in barely seem to exist right now.

I’m trying to stop blindly applying and figure out what actually works haha.

For people who went through a bad post-grad job search:

  • What actually helped you break through?
  • Were there roles/industries you overlooked at first?
  • How did you make your background feel relevant without having direct title experience yet?
  • Is online applying basically dead unless you know someone?

Just trying to get realistic advice from people who’ve been through it.

TIA
