I would like to earn 12 credits over the summer
Hello
I am an incoming freshman and am taking two courses(phys121 and math151) this summer but would like to also take chem101.
However, since I haven't attended orientation, I don't have an advisor to sign off the Excess Credit form. I got an email from the advisors that says I'm not allowed to "since there is no track record at UMBC" for incoming freshmen. It makes sense they would want to make sure someone could handle it, but is there really no one I can talk to? To atleast make a plea?
I've learned differential, integral, and multivar calc before and i have uni physics book where ive done 11 out of the 21 chapters relevant to a phys 1 course so I think maybe I can handle another class. One issue is that I know nothing about chemistry and of the rigor and pace of a college class. But i have nothing to do over the summer and am willing to put in the hours to make sure i excel and properly understand the material.
Im not working, not many hobbies, i go to the gym, and also genuinely enjoy learning math and physics so I don't think I would burnout.
And to people who may tell me to enjoy the summer before I start college-- I'm homeschooled and I have no friends so I have nothing fun planned over the summer except an occasional family vacation. I already know I'm going to be bored and need something to keep my mind busy.
So if there is someone that can help me, I would really appreciate it! :D
