March 4 , 2002. Takur, Ghar, Afghanistan. During Operation Anaconda, Technical Sergeant John Chapman charged into intense enemy fire to protect his team. When a SEAL was thrown from a helicopter, Chapman fought through gunfire, he cleared bunkers, and held the line alone for nearly an hour , despite being critically wounded. His courage gave rescue forces the time ney needed, saving multiple lives. Chapman resfused to quit, embodying selfless heroism until his last breath. In 2018, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, the first Air Force Airman to recieve it since Vietnam. His legacy of courage inspires Airmen today.
