Intern Help/Advice

I’m currently interning with a heavy civil contractor in Texas, and I’m trying to make the most of the opportunity and hopefully earn a return offer. We just finished week one and I’d appreciate advice from people already in the industry on how to stand out and earn more responsibility as an intern. Right now I’m trying to be proactive by getting into the field as much as possible, talking with supers and field engineers, asking questions, and taking notes. I’ve also been sitting in on cost meetings and daily look ahead meetings. What actually makes an intern stand out? What do PMs and supers notice most, and what are some mistakes to avoid? Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Boots for internship. Help it’s on Monday!

Hi, I have my first internship on Monday doing heavy civil work. The only boots I have are just some western style Ariat hybrid ranch work boots. Would these suffice or should I go buy a pair of brunt’s? I asked my manager and she said steel toe isn’t required. Picture attached of what I currently own.
