Help a MTG Player Get Into Pokemon

Hey, all. I'm looking to start getting into Pokemon TCG. I've been playing Magic for about two years now, so I have a pretty good idea of what kind of play style I like. I was wondering if I could get some help replicating my play style into Pokemon in order to make a smooth transition into the game. So, are there any players of both Magic and Pokemon that could help me out? In Magic, I primarily play blue and black midrange decks (in standard, pauper, and EDH), although my midrange leans closer to control than aggro. Any suggestions for Pokemon cards/decks that would play similarly to what I'm used to in MTG? Bonus points if the Pokemon are from the Sinnoh region; I grew up on Pokemon Platinum and have a special place for that region in my heart. I have no idea how many Sinnoh Pokemon are legal in Standard, though. Thanks!
