Shower handle screw seized
My shower faucet is dripping constantly.
I know that a dripping faucet is usually fixed by replacing the cartridge behind the handle.
I have tried removing the allen key threaded screw 3 times now, but it's absolutely seized in. First using a descaler to remove all the hard water build up (as best I can) followed by penetrating oil sitting on the screw for a couple hours. The screw will not budge...not even a little bit. To the point that I broke my allen key yesterday trying to turn it.
how do I remove the handle? Just drill out the threaded screw?
once removed. What all do I need to replace? I assume the handle would now need to be replaced on top of the cartridge.
does it matter what replacement handle I get? I assume as long as it's the same brand (delta in my case) it should work? Or do I need to be more specific.
See attached photo on the handle in question.
Thanks in advance.
