Italian Taxes on a U.S. home

Does anyone have experience with the impact of Italian taxes when you sell your home in the US? I’m told that if it was your primary residence for 2 of the last 5 years and if you’ve owned the house for over 5 years, Italy doesn’t tax the income from the sale of the house. I’ll of course speak to an accountant but wondered if anyone had experience doing this. Thank you.
