Metal shingles vs standing seam vs shingles?

I'm in the southwest parts of Ohio and what I been told have a steep roof pitch at around 18/12.

I been leaning towards metal just because it's only about double the price but should last my lifetime and shouldn't have to worry about my roof again. The issue is I don't know much about the metal shingles and how well they hold up during snow storms or in general.

Are metal shingles as good as standing seam or do they not compare at all?

Does a roof pitch matter on what materials work better for it? I had a couple of people that did estimate say shingles would be better and wouldn't advise paying double the price just for metal.

I been quoted shingles for around $7,500 for GAF, OC, Certainteed.

Metal shingles are from GAF called Timbersteel and from what the salesperson said was supposedly would be one of the first in my state to get them installed which I'm wary of. They mentioned it's a 24 gauge and quoted around $17,000

The standing seam is 26 gauge and quoted around $16,000

Also everything would involve a full tear off of the existing roof.
