In the games gods play, the gods choose humans to fight in their stead for the throne of Olympus... because the gods themselves are forbidden to hurt each other

I don't get it. That's a stupid rule when its just so easily omitted? And some humans deciding basically FOR THE GODS who's to rule also seems silly????
