I found a bat

Or rather, my dog found a bat. It was on the ground, around 11 am or so.

Idk how to feel about this. It's still alive and in a bucket right now... I know it needs to die in order to test for rabies but because its weekend no one is available until Monday so I feel like it's just gonna have a slow death... which makes me feel like crap but I cant actively kill it.

My dog is up to date on his rabies so he should technically be okay.

So I know what everyone says. Pyrenees dont come when called.

Im wondering when ppl say that, is that true even for puppies/teenagers? Or do they listen fairly well initially and as they grow up theyre like " lol nah "

Reason im asking is because my boy, who's almost 14 months, will generally come running when I call. .. well, to a point. The further away he is the more likely he is to come?

It had been a while since I called him from a distance, but I tried it again this morning because I wanted to say goodbye as I left for work, so I went outside and called his name and he came running.

So now im wondering, is that still normal at his age? Or do I have bragging rights?

I have no clue why I'm feeling weird about it. We've always neutered all our male pets. I'm not planning on ever breeding with him and I know theres definite health benefits to being neutered.

I wonder if its cuz this whole time I wanted to wait as long as possible until he was 18 to 24 months or so, but due to his reactivity the behaviorist we're working with suggested to do it around 14 months ( which he will be a few days after his surgery)
