If you live in NSW it’s time to write to your MP
Following Tickle vs Giggle, NSW Premier Chris Minns came out as a bigoted transphobe suggesting that the NSW sex discrimination act ought to be rewritten to reflect, “biological differences.”
Using language that would be more expected among a Floridian Republican politician he said,
“If you’re born biologically male and you change your government certificates to be female, it will not mean that you can change from a male prison to a female prison.”
Now is not the time to get hopeless. Instead, write to your local MP emphasising his comments are incompatible with Labor values. Ask your MP explicitly if they will support trans rights and make clear that if Minns walks down this path his government will lose the preferences of the LGBTQ community so critical to winning in their metro holdings.
Make the consequences for walking this path crystal clear and start writing!
