URGENT ADVICE, PLEASE HELP: CPAP giving off sweet chemical like smell
I have severe SA, 65+ AHI. Tonight, after 4 months of normal usage my CPAP machine is suddenly giving off a strange smell and idk if I should use it.
So there is this mild-moderate sweet chemical like smell coming from my Resmed AirSense 10. I’ve checked the mask, tubing, humidifier and they don’t smell like anything. I changed the filter but same smell. I tried smelling from the outlet vent after removing the tubing and humidifier and turns out that the smell is coming from inside the machine. I’ve been running it on pre-heat and cool-off cycles for almost an hour now but the smell persists. The machine and power adapter seems normal to touch, not hot to or warm and there are no unusual sounds from the machine.
Do you guys reckon it’s safe to use tonight?
Half the night is gone and I’m scared to sleep with and without it. I will be contacting the service people first thing in the morning. Please help.
