McCombs vs Booth

Hi guys,

I have a sudden decision (two weeks) to make that I didn’t anticipate having to make between McCombs or Booth for this upcoming fall, and would love to get some insight.

To give some background on myself, I have five and a half years of work experience (two in financial services and three and a half as a data/marketing analyst), and am interested in going for strategy consulting in MBB (But not 100% on it yet, also interested in other corporate strategy roles), and ideally would love to end up on the west coast post-MBA. I have basically my whole family in Austin, and although I’m not set on staying in Austin post-grad, I do think it would be nice to be close to family after being away for the last couple of years.

I chose McCombs about three months ago after getting a round 1 admit. I’ve been on the Booth waitlist this whole time since R1 (waitlisted twice) and got an admit yesterday. I do see the value in going to a school like Booth (M7 and Booth brand hold a lot of weight from the Booth students I have talked with) and living in Chicago feels more exciting to me, but the smaller class size at UT and the overall more close-knit environment appeals to me. Not to mention, I have a scholarship to McCombs that is essentially half of the tuition while I did not get any $ from Booth (~100k difference).

I would love to get some insight from people who have made similar decisions with M7 vs non-M7, thanks!
