I created this crushed slate patio and underestimated how much moisture it retains. Water is not getting into the crawlspace but the brick is always wet. I pulled the dirt back around the edges 12 inches deep a few days ago and it's still wet. My question is how can I solve for the brick not retaining moisture? Do I have to replace the slate material completely or just use a foundation sealant 12-24" below grade?
