I don’t even know how to start this, but I just need to get it out somewhere.

So I recently got this job in a top notch luxury brand and I was actually really happy about it. Like genuinely. My parents were happy, I was excited, it felt like things were finally moving in the right direction. I moved cities for it, paid security and rent in advance, shifted my whole life there. I was staying in their guest house initially and trying to settle in.

For those 10 days, I was honestly just trying to do everything right. My office timing was 8 to 4:30pm and during that time I was focused on work taking notes, helping wherever I could, just trying to learn and fit in.

After office, I would just sit and work on my own things my portfolio, learning things . I’ve always been like that, I don’t like sitting idle.
The only other thing was that my previous company would sometimes call me because I had left suddenly. They would just ask where some file is or how something works, and I would guide them. Not working for them or taking any project, just helping out. And I made sure I only did that after office hours.

So initially was staying at guest house before shifting to the new flat . In the guest house there was a caretaker, and there was a little language gap. I don’t even know what exactly got communicated, but somewhere things started getting misunderstood.

Also, the CEO was staying in a room next to mine, and I later got to know that he had been observing me for a few days and forming opinions based on what he saw, without ever directly speaking to me.

Then one day, out of nowhere, I’m called and told there are complaints about me.

That I’m working for another company.
That I’m taking freelance work.
That I use my phone during office hours.
That I enter other people’s rooms and misuse things like AC.

I just remember sitting there thinking… how did it even come to this?

Because none of it was true.

I tried explaining everything calmly. I told them I’m not doing any freelance work, those calls were just helping my old team after office hours, I don’t use my phone like that in office, and I’ve never entered anyone’s room like that I would just knock or check before leaving out of basic courtesy. I even said they can check my phone if they want.

But it didn’t feel like they were actually listening. It felt like the decision was already made.

No one had asked me anything before this.
No one had warned me.
There was no conversation.

It just ended with them telling me it was my last day.

Because I know that’s not who I am. I was literally just trying to grow, use my time well, and do things properly. And suddenly being seen like that, without even being understood, just feels… wrong.

Right now I haven’t even told my parents. They were so happy when I got this job, and I don’t want to tell them until I have another offer in hand. I know I’ll figure something out, but this whole thing is just sitting heavy in my head.

I keep replaying it and thinking did I actually do something wrong without realizing? Or was this just a situation where people assumed things and didn’t bother to check?

I’m not breaking down or anything, I know I’ll move on. But yeah… this one really didn’t sit right with me.

Has something like this ever happened to you? How did you deal with it?
