TLDR: My potential new boss made a " - Wayne Gretzky.... - Michael Scott" post in earnest and I feel weird about going to work for them.
Trying to say this in the shortest form possible for simplicity.
This person asked me to get active on linkedin for our future business endeavors. Noticed that multiple times a day, they make business-promoting posts with machine-generated images (and possibly machine-revised writing). It's something I always found weird and unprofessional way before I met them; this field is govt-focused therefore illustrations of cartoon people emerging from melted cars with muzzle flash erupting from non-existent guns with fire and lightning in the background doesn't give me the best vibe. I mostly ignored that and got off LinkedIn after I made my updates, because I'm been unemployed for years and I NEED a job.
This is what really got me, in essence:
>Post by [Owner of Business]
Link to my website (Goes to franchisor's website because franchise doesn't have one yet.)
>"X, Y, and Z won't stop Sparta from burning to the ground. The fire rages on for 2-3 paragraphs of fear-mongering. Your best chances are to focus on A, B, and C (the things the company provides). When they march on Sparta, A, B, and C will save you. People will respect you. You will grow taller and have more hair and everyone will love you."
- Owner of Business
Is that just silly or a more serious red flag?
I just want to do my minimal time, reevaluate whether or not I can do 2-4 more years after that, then move on amicably to other opportunities with the documented experience on my resume, as has been openly discussed with me. This person has been nothing but kind and supportive to me, but despite saying "the job is yours" and arranging for my training and travel, has yet to send me a signable contact.
