I bought my rope (sterling evolution vr9) about 3 years ago but I really haven’t used it much, maybe less than 5 times a year. Anyways, I brought it out to Utah and actually started using it a few times a day for maybe like 3 days (mostly rappelling) before it got a nasty core shot. The sheath nearly completely ripped around the circumference like 10 meters from the center. Ended up having to cut it bc it was just unsafe to use after that.

Anyways, maybe it was a fluke, or maybe I stored it improperly, or maybe that’s just how it is, however my friend has had his rope for the same amount of time (black diamond), used it a lot more, and it’s got like a couple fuzzy spots.

I don’t want to buy sterling again but also not made out of money, so if anyone has any reccs, that’d be great.
