Is it worth switching over to the Kahakka 25L?

I currently have a CTactical CT15+, which is a clamshell bag. However, I think I might be more of a top loader guy. I don’t want to rely on zippers to keep my bag secure, and a bag like the Kahakka seems to have almost zero failure points.

Has anyone switched from a clamshell bag to a Kahakka? Did you regret it?

I’m not a military guy whatsoever, just a random dude who would use the bag for university, travel, and EDC, so I’d probably get the black version. I want a bag that can basically do it all.

I’ve also heard that some people have had comfort issues with the D-rings. Is this a major problem? Comfort is one of my top priorities, so how comfortable is the bag overall?

Another thing, I used to have a Goruck M23, which I hated because it was incredibly floppy and hard to get into. It would always fall over, and it was generally a pain in the ass to use. It was also the most uncomfortable bag I had ever owned, especially with a laptop in the laptop compartment. Is the Kahakka 25L any better in this regard? I prioritize easy access, being able to keep the bag beside me, and being able to open it easily. For example, if I’m walking around a city, I want to be able to quickly get things out of the bag without any hassle, unlike with the M23.

CTactical CT21 Collection is out!

Looks amazing, but I don’t really see what the difference is between it and the CT15 collection.
I’m also kind of disappointed that there isn’t a completely separate laptop compartment, and that the alternatives are basically only orange internal lining.

Am I overthinking zipper durability on expensive backpacks?

I see a lot of people on here talking about how bags need to be made from high denier Cordura, with premium nylon lining and other top tier materials. But I always wonder, aren’t zippers one of the biggest failure points on backpacks?

If the zipper fails, the bag is basically useless. Is the main idea that zippers are relatively easy to repair, either by taking the bag to a tailor or through the warranty? If that’s the case, then what’s the point of using such expensive, heavy duty materials if the zipper is still the weak link?

I recently bought a decent backpack that cost over 200 dollars. It has a #10 RC YKK zipper on the main compartment and #8 YKK zippers everywhere else. The bag feels really durable, but I’m still paranoid that the zippers will somehow break.

I always imagine myself in these post apocalyptic scenarios where I have to live out of my bag in harsh environments, and I tend to base my buying decisions around that idea, having a bag that can withstand the test of time.

So my question is, are the YKK zippers on these kinds of bags actually durable? Has anyone had one break? How much abuse can they realistically take?

Feeling worse after quitting nicotine 5 months ago

I used nicotine in the form of Swedish snus from the age of 16 to 23. I remember that when I quit nicotine, I developed very bad inflammation, puffy nipples, and started retaining a lot of water in my face and body. It was like I had really high estrogen levels.

Since then, I have gained a lot of weight and have had a hard time losing it. It’s like i’m inflamed 24/7. I’m not as spontaneous, social or creative anymore. I used to love watching movies, but now I haven’t watched a single movie in five months.

Weirdly enough, it feels like time passes much faster without nicotine. Even my appearance seems to have changed, I felt and looked better when I was using nicotine. Perhaps it could have something to do with it being a mild aromatase inhibitor?

The reason I quit was because of my anxiety, although nicotine may not have been entirely to blame. It drastically reduced my appetite, which often caused me to undereat.

Does anyone know why this happens? Is nicotine really just a poison, or could it have some benefits? I don’t have a single craving for nicotine anymore, but part of me wants to start using it again because of how much better I felt and looked while using it.

Bucket style backpack similar to Gregory Rhune 25L

I'm looking for a bucket style bag similar to the Rhune 25L. I love the look of the Rhune 25L, and it would most likely be a perfect fit for my needs. However, I'm not sure if the materials will hold up long term as it's 100% Recycled 300D Polyester Ripstop with C0 DWR. I already have the CT15+, which I like, but I think I’m more of a bucket style kind of guy, so I’d prefer a bag with similar durability.

I prefer a single zip access to the main compartment to reduce potential points of failure, along with a #10 YKK zipper and better quality materials overall.

I’ve tried my best to find similar bags, but without luck..

Could you thrive on just ruminant meat, white rice, and salt?

I’m just eating 10% ground beef, white rice, and salt, and I’m feeling incredible. My brain fog and gut issues have vanished completely. My digestion has never been better, and I only have ghost wipes. It’s pretty much like my body completely digests the food.

However, is this diet even sustainable long term? It’s basically the lion diet, but with rice added, and I know many people who have followed that diet for years and say they feel amazing.

I’m curious whether I’ll eventually run into any deficiency issues with calcium, iodine, vitamin C, etc.
