Educate me please?

About a year ago, I made a terrarium for my 6 year old daughter. It has moss, nerve plants, etc. To help her get over a slight fear of bugs, I helped her catch some roly poly bugs and put them into the terrarium. I used to do something similar growing up and would release them. I know I may catch some flak for that. But I figured it would be a good first pet and teach her the responsibility of caring for another being (misting, feeding, etc).
Well, they have been thriving. She adores them. We have babies crawling around. I would like to start her a terrarium with some bright colored isopods or maybe the spiked isopods.
Any recommendations or tips? Looking for beginner friendly. She also lets the roly poly bugs crawl on her hands and hang out with her. Would that be bad for the isopods? I know that they are different than roly polys.
