Just got my hands on this cute Aeropress. Have been making espresso drinks with the picopresso and now a new brew method! Super excited

Just got my hands on this aeropress clear, here in portugal. I have always been an espresso person and have always savoured my coffee with milk. I slowly got into black coffee and eventually, very recently started having espresso like the Portuguese love to!

So thought of trying out the aeropress, as what better than a black coffee made with this beauty of a brewer.

Any recommendations guys?! I have espresso beans (a few medium and medium-dark roast beans) and will be using them for a few days until I get my hands on new beans specially for filtered brews.

Would love some tips specially for someone new to the aero press but quite experienced with espresso, and specifically manual espresso using the Picopresso!

My bedside Thought Catcher has started recommending designers to me at 7AM, which wasn't the plan! TC-01 Updated

A few months ago I posted my Raspberry Pi “Thought Catcher”, a screenless device designed to let you record midnight ideas and tasks without opening a smartphone, helping to avoid screen time and infinite scrolling before sleep.

I’ve been quietly rebuilding the whole system since then.

The new version is much faster, smarter, and now has an 'AI Curator' mode that’s become my favourite feature!

When I capture an idea, the system goes off and finds 2-3 adjacent things: a designer, a movement, a concept; and leaves them sitting next to the idea by morning.

The thing I learned rebuilding it

Making the Pi faster wasn't just optimising it but to actually move the intelligence off it!

  • Whisper still transcribes locally on the Pi
  • Reasoning now runs on Groq's free tier (Llama 3.3 70B, under 1s per call)
  • The Pi is doing exactly one thing- capturing.

The result

  • captures are now ~3 seconds
  • the fan stays silent
  • no waiting around
  • still just: press, speak and zzzzzzz...

Attached a rough walkthrough of the current version because a few of you were asking whether I was still working on this thing.

Update: the Raspberry Pi 'Thought Catcher' now has an AI curator that connects my random ideas to designers, art movements and projects.

Now when I capture a random idea, the system automatically does lightweight research around it and finds related:designers, art movements, projects, concepts, references, etc.

The cool part is that moving the intelligence OFF the Pi actually made some drastic changes:

  • captures are now ~3 seconds
  • the fan stays silent
  • no waiting around
  • still just: press, speak and zzzzzzz...

So a vague late-night thought suddenly turns into a connected web of inspiration instead of just another saved note, while still allowing for adding tasks and notes.

Attached a rough walkthrough of the current version because a lot of people were asking whether I was still working on this thing 😄

(the new app also allows adding to calendar, and adding thoughts via the app on the fly!)
