How to make MoCa work
This is my first time working with this sort of thing so I need some advice. I recently bought MoCA adapters (5th picture), and can’t seem to get them to work.
I bought a coax tester thing and found that the Coax port in my room upstairs wasn’t being detected, then I found that none of the coax upstairs was being detected.
I went outside and found a little box with different coax cables and found the one that goes upstairs (white), but now I’m stuck.
So in the little diagram I drew, grey boxes are splitters, in picture 2 I have the box that lies outside my house with the line bringing in the internet(orange), as well as the line (yellow) that connects that to the coax port where it eventually goes to the router,.
In picture 4 the orange box is the mocha adapter and the white is the router itself, yellow cable is the same one from earlier, blue cables are both coax and the green is Ethernet. I’m not sure as to how to make it so that the moca signal is actually going upstairs, because right now it is not.
For additional context:
- The coax port in my room is not dead
- The moca adapter next to the router will have
the power LED fully lit and the Coax one blinking
- When moca adapter next to router is fully set up internet stops working entirely
- The mocha adapter in my room will have the power LED fully lit but the Coax one off
- I can not seem to enable the “MoCA” mode via the Xfinity admin website thing, I’ll enable it, it loads but it never actually turns on
- I understand that the current splitter outside isn’t actually sent the coax signal from downstairs to the upstairs. I just don’t know how to make that work.
