Which entry level Geiger should I get?

Hey, I'm relatively new to the world of ionizing radiation and Geiger/scintillation counters. I'm not planning to dive to much into this topic but I need a device to measure accurate radiation dosage of my surroundings when I'm in lost places or old mines. It would also be nice to check some rocks/items for radiation.

I understood that alpha radiation is mostly irrelevant in terms of health risks (low penetration potential of the skin etc.) but beta and especially gamma is very important. I thought about buying a Bosean FS5000 for the beginning but came to the conclusion that it's not very accurate on dose rate because it doesn't have a beta shield.

The question is should I focus on something that only measures gamma? Or are there devices that measure beta and gamma and provide accurate dose readings based of the two radiation types?

Till now I saw a few options in generell (200€ max, min 8h battery):

  • Bosean FS5000 ~ 60€
  • GQ GMC-500+ ~ 110€
  • GQ GMC-800 ~ 80€
  • Better Geiger S2 ~ 150$
  • Radiacode 102/103 ~ 250-350€ - too expensive

I hope you guys have advice for my situation. Thanks in advance!
